Serious doubts about the preparation of the British Tyson Fury have arisen after his performance in the fight against the French-Cameroonian Francis Ngannou. The most recent photo of his face after the bout fuels the debate even more.
Various profiles on social networks have shared a photo of Fury's face after the fight against Ngannou. The current WBC champion sports a prominent bruise on one eye, a cut on one eyebrow, and minor abrasions on his nose.
Dressed in a cap and T-shirt bearing his nickname "Gypsy King," the Briton's face has a more serious expression than usual. The photo is a screenshot of an interview with specialized media.
So far, the original post has almost five thousand likes, 183 responses, and close to 700 re-tweets.
Fans' reactions to Tyson's face
The photo has not taken long to accumulate all kinds of reactions from Internet users, although the vast majority are "trolling" the champion for the apparent beating.
A post with a photo in which Fury is on the canvas, semi-knocked out after a blow from his rival, was ironically captioned "Let's go Usyk, I'm ready." Another commenter said "Fury: 'Apart from the knockdown punch he didn't really get me with anything else,' LOL."
"Sheesh Francis hits hard, lol," someone else noted, and there was someone more cynical who declared: "Dude got the panda eyes for that Saudi Arabia money ."
However, there were also those who showed more sympathy for the fighter's condition: "Don't usually see him like that already. That's the one thing we knew Francis had was power." "Damn, it's kinda sad to see Fury like this. I hope he comes back stronger and doesn't lose the plot like he has before."
Fury's lack of preparation?
The specialized press was quick to recall Fury's statements on the day of the weigh-in, October 24. On that occasion, the champion joked that his diet during his camp consisted of "marshmallows, Big Macs and McDonald's."
However, his weight of 277 pounds (125.65 kg), his slowness in moving, and his lack of reflexes suggest that perhaps it was not just a joke.
In the end, Fury won a controversial split decision, in which two judges gave him the victory with cards of 96-93 and 95-94, respectively, while the third gave the triumph to Ngannou by 95-94.
At 37 years old, Ngannou is one of many mixed martial arts fighters who try their luck in boxing, yet he made the champion look like an amateur.
However, Fury's next rival will be none other than the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, current WBA, WBO, and IBF champion. The fight is scheduled for December 23 in Riyadh, United Arab Emirates, but there are already voices calling for it to be postponed, for the benefit of Fury.
