Orange Is The New Black Season 7: Everything Fans Need To Know

Netflix’s original hit series Orange Is the New Black is gearing up for its seventh and final season, and the streaming platform has just released a trailer that is sure to leave fans in tears. Season 7 will begin with Piper as a free woman and trying to figure out life outside of prison, but what about everyone else who is still behind bars?

The trailer features Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling) out in the free world and trying to figure out how to live life as a felon. She appears to be struggling with finding a job and a place to live (which is a huge challenge for anyone with a criminal record), and she also has to visit her parole officer and pee in a cup on a regular basis.

The trailer also shows Taystee (Danielle Brooks) joining Suzanne (Uzo Aduba) and Tiffany (Taryn Manning) in a maximum-security prison after she was framed for the murder of former CO Piscatella. Fans also see Cindy (Adrienne Moore) dealing with her part in framing Taystee as Caputo (Nick Sandow) tells her “Don’t focus on what you can’t fix. Focus on what you can.”

Like Piper, Sophia (Laverne Cox) is also out of prison and is working at a salon, while Gloria (Selenis Leyva) and Alex (Laura Prepon) remain locked up.

According to CNN, the show will bring back some familiar faces in Season 7 after focusing on fewer storylines last season and shrinking the once-large ensemble cast.

Obviously, the trailer doesn’t give any hints about where the characters will end up, but some of the cast members have shared how they feel about the groundbreaking series coming to an end. Natasha Lyonne – who played Nicky Nichols – wrote that on her last shot, a guttural sound came out of her, like a wounded animal.

Kate Mulgrew AKA Galina “Red” Reznikov also posted a special message on her last day of filming, which happened to be on Valentine’s Day.

“As Red bids goodbye to seven extraordinary years, Janeway lifts a glass and both blow kisses. Happy Valentine’s Day to all the captains and cooks who make life sizzzle” wrote Mulgrew.

Creator Jenji Kohan also shared a pic of the cast and crew on the show’s last day – February 26th – and wrote in the caption, “That’s a wrap.”
