The Screen Actors Guild Awards start in a few hours, with a red carpet show starting on E! at 6 pm (EST), and the awards show starting at 8 pm (EST) on TNT (live). Since my Golden Globes predictions were rather disastrous, I won’t even try to guess who is going to win… no, I can’t stop myself. Here are my picks for the top acting categories in film (FULL LIST OF NOMINEES HERE):

Ensemble: The cast of The King’s Speech
Best Actor: Colin Firth, The King’s Speech
Best Actress: Annette Bening, The Kids Are All Right
Best Supporting Actor: Geoffrey Rush, The King’s Speech
Best Supporting Actress: Melissa Leo, The Fighter

I know, I know. Natalie Portman is probably going to win Actress, much to my dismay. But wouldn’t it be great to see Natalie’s little bitchface lose? Wouldn’t that be delicious? As far as my prediction that the SAG will go to Geoffrey Rush and not Christian Bale… well, actors love the older, more badass members of their guild. And Rush is just amazing.

By the way, these are photos from last night’s Directors Guild Awards, in which Tom Hooper won top honors. Hooper is the director of The King’s Speech, meaning that this is the second prominent guild top honor for TKS, directors guild and producers guild. This means that The King’s Speech is now the front-runner for Best Picture, not The Social Network. Which means that The King’s Speech is where you should put your money for Best Ensemble tonight at the SAGs.

Also, I hate Sofia’s dress. And Natalie’s. Helena looks over it too! The DGAs were not a good event, fashion-wise. Let’s hope the SAGs are better.

I’ll be updating when the SAGs start.

UPDATES:

*Jesus, why did they do Best Actor, TV first? That sucked that The Hamm lost. I don’t watch Boardwalk Empire, so I don’t know if the show deserves all of these accolades.

*Melissa Leo wins Best Supporting! Good for her. Her speeches could be better though. Just sayin’.

*Is anyone else tired of Betty White? I mean, I love the old broad, and she’s wonderful and funny, but stop giving her crap out of… what? Misguided pity? A half-hearted attempt to look non-ageist? Ugh.

*I’m sad that Mad Men is losing out on everything, I really am.

* YAY for Modern Family. Great ensemble, so glad they won something.

*Kind of love that Alec Baldwin won again. I’ll buy that he’s a son of a bitch in real life, but he’s hilarious on 30 Rock.

* Christian Bale wins and the Real Dicky Ecklund awards-bombed the speech. I was surprised by how gracious Bale is throughout this awards season. He’s really trying, bless his heart.

* Natalie Portman took it down a notch for this acceptance speech. Thank God. I don’t think I could handle another “conceiving the conception” speech. Plus, she looked great.

* I loved Claire Danes in Temple Grandin. I do not love her in real life, though.

* What’s with all of the gratuitous shots of Justin Timberlake?

* YAY for Colin Firth. So deserved. So lovely.

* YAY for The King’s Speech. Excellent win!!! Looking forward to it winning Best Picture.
